Appletree Campground is a great place to see evidence of the San Andreas Fault firsthand.
A lot of the trees are a bit scorched in this area, yet it seems many of them will survive.
There is a magical oasis just off the 15 Freeway! Connects to the PCT so travel as far as you want in either direction.

When it is too cold or snowy in Wrightwood to hike, catch the PCT off Swarthout Canyon Road instead!

This approximately 2 mile hike goes all the way around the campground. As far as I know, it is still open!
